A lovely bedroom

This is a bedroom we have been working on for a little while and I'm sorry that my camera does not do the room justice. It started with refinishing the beautiful hardwood floors-previously had carpet. Then a new bed from Restoration Hardware-covered headboard and side rails-a beauty! Next, shopping at market!

This photo does not do these fabulous lamps justice!  Found these at Scott's Antique Market.  They are glass with silver trim and a linen shade.  The best thing about them is the switch - it is a smooth dimmer switch- extraordinary!!

Ok - Check out this chandelier!! It's name is the New Orleans and found at market.  It is oxidized iron (yes very heavy).  It has a contemporary vibe with hints of traditional glam.  It is the statement piece of the room.

Cow hide on the floor on top of a sisal and a burlap bench at the foot of the fantastic bed.

Notice the prints, also found these at market and they are basically nudes in charcoal with slight pastel color.  Framed in a black wood frame with a gold bead - beautiful.

Fun but too whimsical for me

Love the contempory flair...i dunno

Love this one...crisp, clean....but yellow???  Still thinking.

Happy Thanksgiving

We have so much to be thankful for.

A Visit to a Friend's Lake House!

These are pictures from a visit to a lovely Lakehouse near Chattanooga, TN.

Great idea for the TV- like Barn doors!
 Notice the chairs!
Lots of wood - it is a cabin!

Master- opens onto screen porch

Half bath! Love the change to painted wood.  Love the wallpaper .  Check out the painted vanity, copper sink and bear night light!!!
 Boys Bunk room
 Boys!
 Girls room
Wonderful place to wash all of the equipment!  This is just like a carwash!
Hope you enjoyed this wonderful lake house and got some inspiration!  Makes me ready for Fall!

Lake Houses and Cabins

Mixture of different woods.  It works because of the break with a bright stove, and vent.  Also, the different textures - rough hewn cabinets, pine floor.
The famous "Pioneer Woman" in her giant kitchen.  Lots of wood again and broken up with the blue stone and cream walls
Here you have a painted island and different backsplash.

Love some Sarah Richardson!!

I've talked on this blog before of one of my favorite designers, Sarah Richardson and there is a great article about her design of her Summer Cottage on Countryliving.com.  I love all of her shows on HGTV - Sarah's House, Design Inc, Sarah 101.
I also love her haircut - a girl is always thinking about hair!! Thinking about cutting mine...hummmm

countryliving.com
This is Sarah in her new summer cottage- what a cottage it is - beautiful! Check out those lanterns! Love the mix of old and new - old barn boards and new backsplash creates interest.

Countryliving.com
Love the upholstery and how it ties in with the natural surroundings outside the large windows. Also adore the chandelier!

A Cute Store!!

I stumbled upon this great bookstore in Rosemary Beach Florida.  Unfortunately, I don't remember it's name (sorry) but got some great pictures of their decor.
Check out this cozy reading area. You know I love blue so I adore this tufted sofa and isn't the chandelier precious?  Perfect for the beach-it's a crystal ship chandelier!!  Charming!!

great chair too!!

Okay.....I want you to notice these inventive ball lights in the same store.  They caught my eye because they were so interesting AND as I looked closer.....

They are made with pages from books!  How cute for a bookstore.  Looks like they took regular ball lanterns you can buy at Pottery Barn, World Market, etc and glued on pages from books cut out in circles!!  Precious!!

Part 3 Alys Beach

More Photos....These are from the neighboring town, Alys Beach.  Alys Beach is a quiet and serene location.  I felt like I was in a spa.  Every structure in white with other subtle accented colors. We had dinner at the Caliza Restaurant there in Alys and it was just wonderful.  Enjoy!!

Hubby on his green bike.  The two large white columns are the entrance into Alys Beach.

Home for rent!

Love the turquoise shutters!!!  YUM

And the gate at the front door.....below is a close-up of those lovely pots of flowers!!

More Rosemary

I had so many photos of vacation spots that I am posting in segments.  Here is the second installment of  interesting houses and other locations that I loved while on vacation.

Love the painted green ceiling, swing and lantern!!

Blue Shutters!!

This is a boardwalk in a courtyard between homes and the picture does NOT to it justice.  The lucious trumpet vine is devine!!

Square in Rosemary Beach - wonderful restaurants and shopping!

Lanterns!!

Loved this store! AND I wanted that green wooden shutter.

More shopping with CUTE girls on bikes!!
